Gulf Coast, Florida

Founded in 1993, the Gulf Coast Chapter is one of the largest US National Committee Chapters. Through the volunteer work of out dedicated members, the Gulf Coast Chapter raises community awareness and funds for UNIFEM by:

  • presenting informative programs and entertaining events highlighting the status and successes of women and girls here and abroad;
  • providing speakers to community organizations throughout the Gulf Coast; and mentoring the next generation of informed and empowered women through our Learners to Leaders program (2009 photo below courtsey of Leslie Feinberg).

At any given moment, there are some 150 projects receiving support from UNIFEM.  And, all funding for UNIFEM comes from contributions.  With the generous support of governments, foundations, corporations, organizations, and individuals, historic victories for women's empowerment and gender equity have been - and continue to be - achieved.
