Start Your Own UNIFEM-USNC Chapter
We encourage you to create a local chapter of the United States Committee for the United Nations Development Fund for Women. Chapters are critical to our success as a Committee because they reach out to members in towns, cities and states across the country to help with our fundraising and advocacy campaigns.
If you are interested in starting a chapter in your area, please review the checklist and attached documents below. If you agree to the terms and conditions, please contact us at info@unifem-usnc.org to discuss this opportunity further.
To start a local chapter of the UNIFEM-USNC in your community, you must:
- Have at least 15 dues paying members of the US National Commitee for UNIFEM.
- Develop a name for the chapter that includes that of the US National Committee for UNIFEM or UNIFEM-USNC (for example: Metropolitan New York Chapter of the US National Committee for UNIFEM; the National Capital Chapter of UNIFEM-USNC or UNIFEM-USNC Gulf Coast, FL Chapter).
- Adopt Bylaws for the chapter that mirror the Bylaws of the National Committee. Bylaws should be submitted to the National Office once completed.
- Elect a Board of Directors and Officers - only unpaid members of UNIFEM-USNC may serve in this capacity.
- Review and have an understanding of the Chapter Development Handbook, Policies and Procedures, UNIFEM-USNC By-laws and the UNIFEM-USNC Recognition Agreement with UNIFEM.
Further information on the Chapter formation process is outlined in the Chapter Development Handbook below.
